Ariana Grande shares ‘Mean Girls’-themed trailer for ‘Thank U, Next’ video with Troye Sivan and more

More 'Thank U, Next' video hints have emerged

Ariana Grande has shared a new Mean Girls-themed teaser trailer for the upcoming music video for ‘Thank U, Next’, her most recent single.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Grande had signed up a Mean Girls star for the music video. The singer had been teasing pictures from the set of her video before sharing a picture that includes Jonathan Bennett – aka Mean Girls’ Aaron Samuels.

Grande has now shared a new teaser trailer of the video which features Bennett alongside singer Troye Sivan, Colleen Ballinger and others. You can watch the trailer here:

In the teaser, the stars all appear as high-school students who tell their own “gossip” story about Grande. Sivan, who Grande collaborated with earlier this year, appears in the video and says: “I heard she’s a lesbian who’s now dating a chick called Aubrey. It’s fucking sick.”

Bennett, meanwhile who plays Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) and Regina George’s (Rachel McAdams) love interest in the 00s classic, was spotted prior to his appearance in the teaser last week in a snap shared on Grande’s Instagram account, while the actor shared a selfie with Grande, captioning the picture: “Aaron [heart emoji] Regina. Thank U, Next.”

Responding to the Bennett’s selfie, Grande commented, “That’s CRAZY……why would I break up with u? Ur so hot,” referencing a line in the cult film.

Aaron ❤️ Regina. Thank U, Next

Grande has previously shared snaps of herself dressed as Mean Girls’ Regina George, as well as sharing pictures of herself dressed up as characters from other notorious 00s movies, including Elle Woods from Legally Blonde and Missy Patone from Bring It On.

The singer shared ‘Thank U, Next’ earlier this month, referencing some of her ex-boyfriends in the lyrics to the first verse. The song has since become the fastest ever song to reach over 100 million streams on Spotify, taking only 11 days to achieve the milestone. It also reached Number One in the UK.

Grande received praise recently for calling out Piers Morgan for ‘slut shaming’ Little Mix after he accused the group of “using” nudity to “sell records.”
