ASH GET STONED ON THE UNDERGROUND

ASH have finished their new album - and are declaring The Velvets and The Stones big influences on its sound...

ASH have finished work on their new album at Rockfield Studios in Wales. They’ve completed 22 new tracks, 11 of which will appear on the as-yet untitled album, scheduled for release in August.

The album takes its cue from ‘Sticky Fingers’-era Rolling Stones, New York Dolls and The Velvet Underground, according to drummer Rick McMurray. “It’s really hard to pin down,” he says. “The songs are going in all sorts of directions from the more mellow, heavy, darker stuff to the more extreme stuff, with lots of different things thrown into the mix. It’ll be interesting to see what people think of it.”

One of the tracks earmarked for release as a single is called ‘Fortune Teller’. The first single from the album will be released in June. For the album’s cover art, Ash are collaborating with the Irish artist Jim Fitzpatrick – who has designed CD sleeves for Thin Lizzy and Sinead O’Connor.
