‘Top Boy’’s Ashley Walters: “I’d love to be James Bond”

The former So Solid Crew member says he’d like to be considered for the role

Ashley Walters, best known for playing the role of Dushane in Channel 4’s Top Boy, has said he would like to be the next James Bond.

Walters, who was also a member of So Solid Crew, told Complex that he hopes he will be considered for the role of 007.

“I’d love to be James Bond. I think there’s going be a black James Bond soon, and I hope I’m in the running,” he said.

Crime drama Top Boy was originally broadcast in 2011, lasting two seasons. It has since become a cult hit, with its availability on Netflix introducing it to international viewers. Drake has also professed his love for the series on Instagram.

Asked about rumours of a new series and US remake, Walters said: “What I can say is that, behind the scenes, there’s some serious work going on to make it happen, and between a lot of good people too.”

So it’s going to happen at some point, but I can’t really talk about it too much until the paper has been signed.”

He also revealed that Drake has been pushing for the series to return.

Walters told Complex: “Drake is involved. He’s coming on board to help and try and push the situation forward. We’ll see what happens!”

Director Sam Mendes recently said that he thinks Daniel Craig was “saying goodbye” to the iconic role with latest film Spectre.

Speculation over Craig’s future at 007 is rife, with the actor having distanced himself from committing his future to the franchise and rumours that Idris Elba, Tom Hiddlestone or Aidan Turner could take over.
