The show is set to take place at the Capri in Marfa in the band’s home state of Texas on April 12. Tickets are on sale now, reports Alter The Press. The band will appear at both Coachella events on April 15 and 22. This is the first year that the Californian festival has run over two weekends.
Earlier this year Omar Rodriguez-Lopez of he band said that there is no chance of At The Drive-In recording a new album. The reunited band will play festival slots at Benicassim and Reading and Leeds as well as Coachella. There had been rumours that they would be recording new material, but Rodriguez-Lopez has ruled this out completely. The guitarist described the reunion as a pure “nostalgia thing” and compared it to “an old T-shirt that doesn’t fit any more”.
Speaking to Kerrang!, he responded to a question about whether the band would be recording a new album by saying: “Will there be a new album? No, no, no. At The Drive-In is more of a nostalgia thing – it’s songs we wrote when we were all in our 20s and we’re doing a couple of shows.” He continued: “It’s an old T-shirt that doesn’t fit me any more, but when you put it on again, it feels nice. It’s as simple as that.”
