Band recently confirmed details of their first live appearance since 2012
At The Drive-In have added more live dates to their schedule for 2016 while also teasing an announcement due later this week.
Late last year the band were revealed as one of the acts on the line-up for Ohio’s Rock On The Range Festival. They have now added a further festival date with confirmation of an appearance at this year’s Shaky Knees Festival, the Atlanta festival which takes place May 13-15.
These gigs represent At The Drive-In’s first shows since 2012, though there is still no confirmation as to who exactly is in the band. When the Rock On The Range festival date was announced in December, guitarist Jim Ward revealed he knew nothing of the band’s plans.
However, more information appears to be on the way with At the Drive-In sharing a 15-second clip including music and the tease of an announcement due to arrive on Thursday (January 21). Watch the video below.
At The Drive-In reunited for a string of shows, including appearances at Reading and Leeds Festivals, in 2012 and reissued both their ‘Relationship Of Command’ and ‘Acrobatic Tenement’ albums in the same year.
The band have not played live since headlining London’s Brixton Academy in August 2012. At the time, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Cedric Bixler of the band vowed that it would be their final gig.
Speaking in 2013, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez said that At The Drive-In were not over and that there were always possibilities that the band would play together again.
However, relations between Rodriguez-Lopez and his bandmate Cedric Bixler were revealed to be strained that same year when the latter disbanded The Mars Volta in protest at the frontman starting a new band, Bosnian Rainbows.
