'Eternal Flame' reamins rooted at the top in this week's midweek chart...

ATOMIC KITTEN are heading for a second week at Number One with their cover of ‘ETERNAL FLAME’.

The group, whose version of The Bangles‘ classic entered the charts at Number One last Sunday (July 29), remain at the top of the charts today (July 31) following the publication of midweek figures based on yesterday’s sales.

This week’s new releases are yet to make a real impact on the Top Five.

Depeche Mode‘s new single ‘I Feel Loved’ is currently the highest new entry at Number Six, with Geri Halliwell‘s ‘Scream If You Wanna Go Faster’ the second highest new entry at Number Seven.

A chart expert at the Virgin Megastore in London told NME.COM that she thought it unlikely either track will be able to knock Atomic Kitten from the top spot.

She commented: “Geri will sell more towards the end of the week and will probably move up the chart, but I can’t see it going to Number One. “

Janet Jackson‘s new single ‘Someone To Call My Lover’ is currently just outside the Top Ten at Number 11.
