The rapper apologised for her remarks in her first letter to the politician
Azealia Banks has shared an addendum to her open letter to Sarah Palin.
The rapper posted a letter on Tumblr addressed to the former Alaska governor earlier today (April 5) in which she apologised for making graphic comments about the politician on Twitter.
Banks has now posted a second part to the letter in which she criticises Donald Trump and Palin. The New York musician tweeted a link to the post, with the message “Fuck Sarah Palin”.
She wrote: “I’m 100% positive that the police killings, cultural appropriation, Trump and Palin etc. represent the contempt that whitey shares for this intangible, uncontrollable new black mind that’s been steeping for a while now.”
The post continues: “The mind born of very intelligent and real conversations/confrontations around American Racism. And the detachment of the Black mind from the mirage of a subpar existence and self-perceptions that crackers created for us long ago.
“They feel exposed and out of control for once. And our big black ideas and expression are threatening to further expose them, so they’ll try to trivialize and minimize our blackness by stereotyping us.”
Banks recently posted a now-deleted series of tweets after reading a fake news story she believed to be real, which alleged that Palin had said that “negroes loved being slaves”.
In response to the supposed comments, Banks reportedly wrote on Twitter: “Sarah Palin needs to have her hair shaved off to a buzz cut, get headfucked by a big veiny, ashy, black dick then be locked in a cupboard… Let’s find the biggest burliest blackest negroes and let them run a train on her. Film it and put it on Worldstar.” She has since deleted the tweets.
Palin responded to the tweets in a post on her official Facebook post, writing: “Hey Female Rapper – listen up, little darling. No one has any idea what you’re wigging out about in these bizarre, violent rants against me, but you’re obviously not exercising enough intelligence to acknowledge you’ve been sucked into believing some fake interview in which I supposedly offered comments representing the antithesis of my truth.”
The politician has since told People said she is in “in discussions with attorneys” over the prospect of suing Banks and “can’t wait to share my winnings with others who have gone defenceless against lies and dangerous attacks far too long”.
In her initial letter, Banks claimed that her remarks had been misinterpreted.
“I used the term ‘run a train,’ which is slang for group sex, not for ‘rape.’ There are many distinctions between the two. As a woman, I would never trivialise something as lewd and criminal to provide myself any sort of comic relief because it simply just isn’t funny.”
She went on to offer an apology to Palin, writing: “All in All, Woman to Woman, I hope you will accept my sincerest apology,”.
Azealia Banks recently released her new mixtape ‘Slay-Z’. The eight-track mixtape featured the previously released singles ‘The Big Big Beat’ and ‘Used to Being Alone’. Rick Ross and Nina Sky also appear as guests on two tracks.
