Azealia Banks clashes with ‘Eastenders’ actress after labelling LGBT community ‘the gay KKK’

Rapper clashes with soap stars Alison Newman and Charlie Condou on Twitter

Azealia Banks has clashed with EastEnders star Alison Newman following an incident last week when the rapper appeared to use a homophobic slur when confronting an airplane flight attendant.

Banks was flying from New York to Los Angeles on September 21 when she was filmed arguing with a fellow passenger and a flight attendant.

Having been embroiled in a verbal and physical confrontation with a passenger, Banks proceeded to call a member of staff a “fucking faggot”, according to a report from TMZ.

After the incident was caught on camera, Banks later defended herself on Twitter, writing: “I don’t care. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I don’t tolerate bitchassness and I don’t tolerate men putting their hands on me.”

Following the slur, Coronation Street actor Charlie Condou pointed to a recently deleted tweet by Azealia Banks that compared the gay community to the Ku Klux Klan. It allegedly read, “LGBT community (GGGG) are like the gay white KKK’s. Get them some pink hoods and unicorns and let them rally down rodeo drive.”

Banks also later clashed with Alison Newman, who plays DI Samantha Keeble in EastEnders, who had been critical of her comments. “You’ve allowed gay men to convince you that u owe them respect while they refer to you as fish and cunt,” Banks tweeted at Newman.

The rapper later added, “All I had to do was say one word and I moved a whole community. What weaklings!!!… If I am to be a part of an LGBT community I want to be in it with people who aren’t so weak or so easily moved ya know… Because all the time spent being mad at word could’ve been used to help people who really need the help! Words are not tangible things. You all CHOSE to get upset. Remember… Offense is only TAKEN, it is never given.”
