Azealia Banks denies being homophobic because she is bisexual

The rapper has been accused of making homophobic comments in the past

Azealia Banks has responded to accusations of homophobia, revealing in the process that she’s bisexual.

The rapper, who released debut album ‘Broke With Expensive Taste’ in November 2014, has been embroiled in numerous Twitter spats over the course of her career, with some fans accusing the star of making anti-LGBT remarks in the past.

On Friday (July 3), Banks took to Twitter to write: “Why do gay men think everything I post about being gay is about them?! GIRLS ARE GAY TOO. I LIKE VAGINAS.”

She continued: “Just give the Azealia banks is a homophobe thing a rest because I’m not. I have a transgender sibling. My whole life is gay… All of my friends are gay, I am bisexual…. So please… Stop.”

Banks was criticised for using a homophobic slur after becoming embroiled in a Twitter spat with US celebrity blogger Perez Hilton back in 2013.

The rapper called Hilton a “messy faggot”, later defending herself by saying: “A faggot is not a homosexual male. A faggot is any male who acts like a female. There’s a BIG difference.”

Azealia Banks recently pulled out of her performance at this year’s Glastonbury. The Harlem rapper was scheduled to take to The Other Stage on June 27 but was instead replaced by Irish band The Strypes.
