Computer games tycoon and his wife fly over from US for special show
A wealthy US couple, Greg and Cynthia Thomas, have paid Babyshambles‘ frontman Pete Doherty £15,000 for a private concert in the singer’s Wiltshire home last weekend (February 16).
Thomas, a computer games tycoon from California, and his wife flew in especially for the gig after negotiating the fee with a member of Doherty’s entourage.
The gig had been scheduled to begin at 9pm (GMT) on Friday (February 15), but Doherty arrived seven hours later, at 4am.
According to the Daily Mail, Doherty greeted the couple then performed an hour-long acoustic set for them in the front room of his rented house in Marlborough. The couple stayed until late on Saturday morning.
After the show, Doherty said: “The gig went really well. It was really nice. I got to try out lots of new material.
“These people were real aficionados. They certainly know their stuff. Everything I played went down really well, from old songs all the way through to my new stuff which no one’s heard.
“They were a really nice couple as well. They’ve got three children and it was just nice all round, all for a bit of pocket money.”
