Babyshambles man speaks out on his time behind bars...

PETE DOHERTY has spoken out about his time in PENTONVILLE PRISON – describing it as “hell on earth”.

As previously reported, the star was released from the London jail yesterday on £150,000 bail after being charged with robbery and blackmail.

Speaking following his release, Doherty said he intends his next trip to rehab to be the one where he finally kicks his addiction to heroin and crack cocaine.

He said: “It was hell on earth. At night the noise was horrible and there is nothing more terrifying than the sound of a prison waking up. My cell stank of vomit and I felt the walls closing in. I thought I was going to die.

”I’m determined to stay clean. Six days without heroin hasn’t been as bad as I expected. I’ve been through the worst of the detox and I want to prove to my mum above anybody else I can do this. I also need to stay clean for the sake of my band mates and all my fans,” he told The Sun.

NME.COM understands that Doherty was taken straight from prison to a drugs rehabilitation centre.

Doherty, 25, was arrested following an alleged incident in a London hotel on Wednesday night (February 2).
