Work on a new record will begin in February 2002

BACKSTREET BOYS will return to the studio in February 2002 to start work on new, “organic” material for a new album.

Speaking to MTV news in the US, group member Kevin Richardson said five songs had already been demoed in breaks from touring earlier this year.

He said: “We’re going to go back into the studio in February to work on the new album…We want to go more organic with the production – live drums, live bass, acoustic guitars. One song A.J. (McLean) wrote is called ‘Happy’ and we definitely want to put that on there.

“I think now more than ever people want music that lifts them up and makes them happy and makes them forget about their problems.”
