NAUGHTY BOY!

The Mercury Music Prize nominee does impressions, throws banana skins around and plays a few songs...

Badly Drawn Boy stumbled through a shambolic LONDON gig last night, as part of the CHANNEL 4 BARFLY SESSIONS.

The singer, aka Damon Gough, filmed his performance for the Channel 4 series at an invite-and competition winners-only show at the London Camden Monarch last night (August 2).

Coming on stage dressed in his now trademark woolly hat, Gough was erratic throughout, eating banana skins before throwing them at the crowd, baiting the camera crew who were trying to film his songs, as well as doing impressions of ex-Radio 1 and TV presenter Jimmy Savile.

His set comprised stripped-down versions of his debut, and Mercury Music Prize nominated album ‘The Hour Of Bewilderbeast’, although he did find time to play an impromptu cover of the 1967 The Left Banke song ‘Walk Away Renee’, and a track from his debut EP, ‘Shake The Rollercoaster’.

The full set ran: ‘Everybody’s Stalking’, ‘Camping Next To Water’ ‘Walk Away Renee’ (solo) ‘Bewilderbeast’ ‘Disillusion’ ‘Once Around The Block’ (solo) ‘Pissing In The Wind’ ‘Another Pearl’ ‘Magic In The Air’ ‘Shake The Rollercoaster’ (solo)

The gig will be broadcast as part of the forthcoming Barfly Sessions, a series which starts on August 23 on Channel 4, and will also feature live performances by Coldplay, Babybird and Muse.
