A new compilation put together by label co-owner Andy Votel, and the man himself, tell all...

ANDY VOTEL – the MANCHESTER music figure who co-owns the city’s Twisted Nerve label with BADLY DRAWN BOY – is to give fans a peek into his musical psyche with the release of a compilation of rarities and oddities.

‘Special Brew – Finders Keepers’ features 14 tracks covering folk, jazz, funk and psychedelic styles performed by artists from France, Germany, Hungary and Turkey, as well as an “Italian nymphomaniac”, according to Votel!

Votel and Badly Drawn Boy Damon Gough – still carrying his Mercury Prize around in his bag, along with bottles of ‘Damon’ lager and Jack Daniels – hosted a special Twisted Nerve night as part of In The City in Manchester on Monday (September 25), with Gough joining Alfie onstage for one song. The evening included a showing of cult documentary ‘Tales From A Hard City’, performances from Mum And Dad and Sirconical, and DJ sets from Gough and Votel.

The ‘Special Brew’ compilation is released through Fat City on November 6, and a new album from Votel himself will be out on XL later this year.
