It’s the first music off the California singer’s second album
BANKS has shared the video to ‘Fuck With Myself’, the first material to air off her forthcoming sophomore album, which she is currently working on. You can watch it below.
The video for ‘Fuck With Myself’ was directed by Philippa Price, who directed Rihanna’s Brit Awards performance at this year’s bash. In the piece she has done for Banks, dancers wearing masks of her face surround the singer, before she sets a bust of herself on fire towards the end.
Zane Lowe recently spoke to Banks about her new single on his Beats One show. You can listen to that chat below.
The California singer released her debut album ‘Goddess’ in September 2014, which included tracks ‘Beggin’ For Thread’ and ‘Waiting Game’, as well as her singles ‘Brain’, ‘Change’, ‘Warm Water’ and ‘This Is What It Feels Like’.
In that same year, Banks has made her TV debut, performing on the Jimmy Kimmel Live chatshow in the US, performing ‘Beggin’ For Thread’ and ‘Waiting Game’, appearing alongside actor Mickey Rourke and The Fast And The Furious actress Jordana Brewster on the ABC show.
The following year, Banks claimed that Neon Jungle did not ask to cover her song ‘Waiting Game’, with their version featuring on the debut album they released in 2013.
Addressing the subject on her Facebook page, Banks wrote: “People keep asking why I let Neon Jungle put my song ‘Waiting Game’ on their album when my album has yet to come out. The answer is I was never asked. I was as shocked as you to see this song made up of my own heartbeats on their album. A song that was born from my real life, my real heartache, my real fingertips when I was at one of the most confusing times in my life.”
She went on to add that the alleged situation “feels really icky”. “I guess I can only hope ‘Waiting Game’ means as much to Neon Jungle as it did to me when I wrote it.”
