The singer called Apple CEO Tim Cook to make the request
Barbra Streisand has asked Apple to correct Siri’s pronunciation of her name.
The singer went to the lengths of calling Apple CEO Tim Cook to request the change be made in the release of iOS10.
During an interview with NPR, host Scott Simon asked Siri: “Who is the only female vocalist who has had hit records for six straight decades?”
The intelligent personal assistant responded “Barbra Streisand”, but pronounced her surname “Streizand”.
Stereogum reports Streisand corrected it, saying “Streisand with a soft s, like sand on the beach. I’ve been saying this for my whole career. And so what did I do?
“I called the head of Apple, Tim Cook, and he delightfully agreed to have Siri change the pronunciation of my name, finally, with the next update on September 30th… So let’s see if that happens because I will be thrilled.”
