Basement Jaxx and James to headline Camp Bestival

Johnny Marr, Sinead O'Connor and Steve Mason also announced for festival in Dorset

Basement Jaxx and James have been announced as the first two headliners of Camp Bestival, which runs from July 31 to August 3 at Lulworth Castle in Dorset.

James will headline the opening night, while Basement Jaxx close the festival with the headline slot on August 3. Also on the bill are Johnny Marr, Sinead O’Connor, Laura Mvula, Steve Mason and Peter Hook And The Light.

Festival organiser Rob da Bank said: “I always play close attention to the Camp Bestival forum and social media to see what people want, so I’ve followed orders and booked two of the most requested acts – and, coincidentally, two of my favourite bands ever – to headline.”

Other acts confirmed to play include The Skatalites, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Chas & Dave, The Wedding Present, Public Service Broadcasting, Nick Mulvey, The Cuban Brothers, Charlotte Church and Denai Moore.

The festival will have a circus theme, with lion tamers, trapeze artists and performing seals appearing at the site.
