BASEMENT JAXX are set to follow in the footsteps of CHARLOTTE CHURCH and BILLIE PIPER by turning on LONDON Christmas lights – and the local boys are going to do it in BRIXTON, NME.COM can reveal.
It is understood that the band were approached by Brixton council because of their continuing association with the area and their work with local singers and musicians, both on their ‘Remedy’ album and live tours.
“It’ll be a big turn on for us,” the band quipped. “We are honoured and happy to have been asked. It will be wonderful start to the festive season.”
The ceremony will take place at St Matthew’s Peace Garden, Brixton Hill, on December 7.
Basement Jaxx are currently in the studio recording the follow up to their critically acclaimed and commercially successful ‘Remedy’ longplayer.
