Unlikely chart contest emerges with 2,000 sales between the two
Bastille have found themselves in a surprise battle with Justin Timberlake for this week’s chart-topping single.
The indie-rock act have seen their single ‘Pompeii’ soar up the charts with only Justin Timberlake’s ‘Mirrors’ rivalling it for sales. At the time of publishing there are just 2,000 sales separating the two singles. ‘Pompeii’ is Bastille’s fourth official single and the first to be released from their forthcoming album ‘Bad Blood’.
Other new entries in this weeks singles chart are due for Wiley, Paramore and Laura Mvula. Adele’s ‘Skyfall’ has seen a sales boost following her Oscar win over the past weekend.
Atoms For Peace, the group formed by Thom Yorke of Radiohead and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea, look set to debut at Number Two on Sunday with their first full-length, Amok. They are currently lagging behind Brit Award winner Emeli Sande, on course to spend her 10th non-consecutive week at Number One with her album ‘Our Version Of Events’. Brits British Group winners Mumford & Sons are at Number Three on today’s Official Albums Chart Update with their second album, ‘Babel’, while Ben Howard’s ‘Every Kingdom’ and The Motion Picture Cast Recording of Tom Hooper’s big screen adaptation of Les Miserables remain at Number 4 and 5, respectively.
NME Godlike Genius Johnny Marr is on course to debut in the Top 10 this week with his new solo album in at Number Six with Palma Violets narrowly behind at Number Eight.
