Battle rapper Tech 9 was facing child porn and sexual assault charges before his death

Battle rapper Tech 9 was reportedly facing charges for child porn and sexual assault at the time of his death.

The rapper, real name Akhiym Mickens, was arrested on January 5 in Philadelphia and charged with possession of child pornography, indecent assault, indecent exposure and corruption of minors.

Official documents reveal that he was due to be arraigned in Philadelphia’s Common Pleas Court on March 25, the same day that his death was confirmed by fellow battle rapper Buttah from the Block.

The criminal docket against Mickens features charges including sexual offences relating to unlawful contact with minors, corruption of minors, indecent assault of a minor, harassment, indecent exposure, child pornography and more.

While the cause of Mickens’ death is yet to be confirmed, Montgomery County’s First DeputyCoroner Alexander Balacki says his death is still “under investigation.”

At the time of his death, Kendrick Lamar paid tribute by referencing one of Tech 9’s battle rap bars, writing: “THEY SAY MY FACE DONT LOOK THE SAME WITH THE STOCK – Condolences to the family of the late great Tech9 of philly. Rest well.”

Fellow Philly rapper Meek Mill wrote: “Rip dawg!!! I’m tired of saying rip.”
