Liam Gallagher voted greatest frontman of all time

Beady Eye singer beats the likes of Freddie Mercury and Matt Bellamy to first place

Beady Eye‘s Liam Gallagher has been voted the greatest frontman of all time.

The former Oasis singer topped a poll voted for by listeners of XFM, with Queen singer Freddie Mercury in second place.

The number three spot went to Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan, with Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and Muse’s Matt Bellamy filling out the top five. The Killers’ Brandon Flowers, Morrissey, The Doors’ Jim Morrison, Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain and Arctic Monkeys’ main man Alex Turner completed the rest of the top 10.

Responding to the news, Gallagher said:

Greatest frontman? I knew that anyway! There’s not many of us about. There are a lot of pretenders out there. But I’d like to thank everybody for voting and stuff. Nice one.

The singer also said he was too handsome to have not been the focal point in a band, adding: “It’s always been about the vocal for me, man. If you’re a good looking fucker like me, you’ve got to be down the front, haven’t you?”

Last month, Liam Gallagher admitted that he would rather still be fronting Oasis than Beady Eye. “Even though I love Beady Eye, I’d prefer to still be in Oasis, because that was my thing,” he said. “Oasis was my life.” Beady Eye released their debut album, ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding’, in February last year.
