Liam Gallagher defends Wayne Rooney over FA Cup semi-final ban

Beady Eye singer also tells his beloved Manchester City to 'get stuck in' to Manchester United during Wembley clash

Beady Eye‘s Liam Gallagher has defended Wayne Rooney over the swearing incident that has left the striker banned for today’s (April 16) FA Cup semi-final between Manchester United and Manchester City.

The former Oasis frontman said he didn’t understand the “big fuss” over the incident, which saw the England man swear down the camera during a match against West Ham United earlier this month.

Speaking to BBC Football Focus, Gallagher commented: “I suppose there’s a lot of kids out there called Sebastian who will find it horrific that he’s swearing down the camera. But it happens, young man,” he said.

Gallagher, who is taking a break from Beady Eye‘s current UK and Ireland tour to attend the match at Wembley Stadium, told his beloved City to “get stuck in” to their Manchester rivals during the match.

You can see a clip of the interview on the BBC Football Focus website, while the full chat is due to be aired on the programme at 12.15pm (BST) this afternoon.

Beady Eye are due resume their UK and Ireland tour at Belfast Ulster Hall tomorrow (17).
