JAY-Z’s long-time collaborator BEANIE SIGEL showcased new tracks from his forthcoming album ‘THE REASON’ earlier this week (March 12) at a recording studio in NEW YORK, NME.COM can reveal.

The follow-up to his April 2000 debut ‘The Truth’, ‘The Reason’ sees Philly native Sigel’s rhyme approach go back to his roots address much of his pain and struggle growing up.

The album, due for release in late April through Roc-A-Fella records, features guest appearances from Jay-Z, Mary J Blige, Scarface and Memphis Bleek.

Named after Sigel Street in his home city, Beanie has also enlisted the help of some of hip hop’s hottest talent.

‘The Reason’ includes production credits from the likes of 88 Keys (Mos Def, Black Eyed Peas), No ID (Common), Kanye (Jay-Z, Lil’ Kim), and Just Blaze (Big Pun, Busta Rhymes).

The playback at Battery Studios was introduced by Damon Dash, CEO of Roc-A-Fella records. Beanie and Damon then took questions on the album.

Video interviews with both Beanie Sigel and Damon Dash will be posted soon on NMEHIPHOP.COM.
