The American star gets to work on the follow-up to 'Midnite Vultures'...

Beck has entered the studio with DAN ‘THE AUTOMATOR’ NAKAMURA to work on material for the follow-up to ‘MIDNITE VULTURES’.

Beck has been writing and recording material for his new album over much of the last 12 months.

Mystry surrounds the direction of the new songs, with a UK spokesperson for the star telling NME.COM that it is unclear whether the record will be upbeat, or more acoustic, like his 1998 ‘Mutations’ album.

However, Dan The Automator has previously worked with Gorillaz and rapper Dr Octagon, hinting a move in that direction. He and Beck are working on the songs in San Francisco.

Beck will perform a solo show at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles (February 26) as part of a fundraising drive for the Recording Artists Coalition.
