Belle & Sebastian held a party in their studio this week to add special ‘atmosphere’ to their forthcoming album, which is due out early next year.
A B&S spokeswoman said the band wanted the sounds of a ‘get-together’ on one of their tracks so they just decided to hold a party and record it.
She continued: “They ended up having more than 100 of their friends crammed into the studio having a whale of a time.”
The album, which is as-yet untitled, will be the band’s fourth and the follow-up to last year’s ‘The Boy With The Arab Strap’. It is being recorded at Ca Va studios in Glasgow. They are now due to finish recording the album in October, with a release expected in January next year.
Meanwhile, Belle & Sebastian singer Isobel Campbell has confirmed that she will start work on a new Gentle Waves album once the new Belle & Sebastian LP is completed.
