Plus side projects on the way...

Belle & Sebastian‘s Stuart David has NOT left the band – and has instead finished the latest album from his other outfit Looper.

Rumours on the band’s internet sites were rife that David had quit the group – but his spokesperson said that instead, he’d been busy completing new Looper album ‘Geometrid’, out through Jeepster at the beginning of May.

She said: “There’s nothing mysterious going on. Stuart is still very much a part of Belle & Sebastian, and is now with the band busy putting the finishing touches to their forthcoming album.”

She continued that Belle & Sebastian had just one more week in the studio before recording was completed. The members would then concentrate on packaging and artwork, she said. No titles are available yet, but it was due out late spring/summer through Jeepster.

The spokesperson also revealed that various members of Belle & Sebastian were also likely to feature on ‘Geometrid’, named after a type of moth which has caterpillars known as ‘loopers’.

Many of the band will also feature on the new Gentle Waves album, the side project of Belle &smp; Sebastian‘s Isabelle Campbell.

Belle & Sebastian are kind of like The Gentle Waves backing band,” she explained.

The Gentle Waves album, which is not yet titled will be out nearer the summer, also through Jeepster.

In the meantime, Belle & Sebastian will release their first three EPs in a set on March 6. Titled ‘Lazy Line Painter Jane’, the package will contain 12 songs in a slipcase and will retail for #9.99.
