Belle & Sebastian are to release their second album, the follow-up to the 40,000-plus selling debut ‘If You’re Feeling Sinister’, on September 7.
The as-yet-untitled album will be released by Jeepster and includes the following tracks: ‘It Could Have Been A Brilliant Career’, ‘Sleep The Clock Around’, ‘Is It Wicked Not To Care’, ‘Ease Your Feet Into The Sea’, ‘A Summer Wasting’, ‘Seymour Stein’, ‘Spaceboy Drem’, ‘Dirty Dream #2’, ‘The Boy With The Arab Strap’, ‘Chick Factor’, ‘Simple Things’ and ‘The Rollercoaster Ride’.
As reported in January, the band were due to release an EP prior to the album. This is now likely to come out after September featuring songs from the album sessions.
The new album is being released all over the world on the same day and the band are planning their first worldwide tour to coincide with its release. In Britain, the band are planning to play all dates on boats, although no final details or venues have been confirmed. The UK gigs are slated to take place from August 31 to September 9. Full details will be revealed shortly.
The band then head to Northern Europe for a string of dates before playing the US West Coast and Canada at the beginning of November.
Meanwhile, Belle and Sebastian member Stuart David’s side project Looper release a single on July 7 on the Sub Pop label. The two-tracks are ‘Impossible Things’ and ‘Spaceboy Dream #3’ and incorporate “spoken word and homemade beats”. The latter track also features fellow B&S members Stuart Murdoch, Karn David and Chris Geddes.
