THE GENTLE WAVES, the second Belle & Sebastian offshoot to release an album this year (after the acclaimed Looper LP), release their debut single ‘Weathershow’ on Monday followed by the album ‘The Green Fields Of Foreverland…’ on Jeepster on April 5.
The Gentle Waves is the solo incarnation of B&S cellist Isobel Campbell who had been a songwriter even before joining B&S.
Recorded in a short space of time after the band’s return from America last year (“We had four days off when we got back and after I’d caught up on my sleep I made the record,” she told NME‘s Jim Wirth) with B&S bandmates Richard Colburn, Chris Geddes, Stuart Murdoch, Mick Cooke and Stevie Jackson.
