Bands follow Super Furry Animals, MGMT and My Chemical Romance on the psychedelic kids' TV show
Belle & Sebastian and Neon Indian have been announced as the musical guests on US childrens’ show Yo Gabba Gabba! this Sunday (February 17).
They will be joined by Arrested Development‘s Jeffrey Tambor, who will play a “feisty miniature king” in the episode which will be broadcast on Nick Jr in the USA.
Neon Indian will perform ‘We All Learn From Our Mistakes’ and Belle And Sebastian will be featured in an animated segment. Previous bands who have appeared on the show include Super Furry Animals, MGMT, My Chemical Romance and The Ting Tings.
Speaking about how he got into the mindset of the TV show, Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys told BBC News: “You drink lots of additives. You go to the shop and buy everything that’s coloured orange or red and, because you’re grown up, you have to drink 50 times the amount a kid would need to go mental.”
“Then you just play at hyper-speed and jump around and stuff.”
My Chemical Romance performed a song called ‘Every Snowflake Is Different’ on a special winter episode Yo Gabba Gabba! called ‘A Very Awesome Christmas’. Last October, the show put out a forth volume of its compilation series. ‘Yo Gabba Gabba!’s Gabba Gabba! Music Is Awesome!: Four’ featured songs from the TV series by The Roots, Belle And Sebastian, Biz Markie, Metric and more. Rocket From The Crypt, who reunited on the show, also appeared on the compilation.
