Belle And Sebastian’s Stuart Murdoch announces release of iMeem album

'God Help The Girl' sees Murdoch get a little help from female vocalists

Belle & Sebastian mainman Stuart Murdoch has announced details of his new album, entitled ‘God Help The Girl’.

The album features Murdoch-penned songs sung mostly by girls he found through a competition on social networking site iMeem.

‘God Help The Girl’ is released on June 22, with the single ‘Come Monday Night’ released on May 11. Fans can download ‘Come Monday Night’ for free by signing up at

Murdoch originally had the idea for the album in 2004 and has been working intermittently on it since then. As well as the singers found throughout the competition, The Divine Comedy‘s vocalist Neil Hannon appears on one track, while ‘Withnail And I’ soundtrack composer Rick Wentworth also appears throughout.
