Ben Howard and Bombay Bicycle Club to headline new east London festival Citadel

Festival takes place in London's Victoria Park on July 19

Ben Howard and Bombay Bicycle Club have been announced as the headliners for a new east London festival called Citadel.

The festival, which is put on by Wilderness, indie label Communion, Superfly, promoters Soundcrash and Time Out will take place on July 19 in London’s Victoria Park, with other acts to be announced soon.

A press release from the festival added that it will also “host some of the city’s gastronomic leaders crafting a series of long table Sunday dining experiences whilst Secret Productions’ Sunday Papers Live team will host a tent of captivating literary talks, spoken word and debates”.

“We’re so excited about this one – great to have Bombay Bicycle Club alongside us and we’re booking some of our personal favourites to join us on the bill,” Ben Howard said in a statement, adding that it was “going to be a special day.” The singer-songwriter is due to tour the UK in April and went straight to Number One with his album ‘I Forget Where We Were’ last year.

The festival will be Bombay Bicycle Club’s only London performance of 2015 following the band’s Earls Court gig last December – when they were joined on Stage by Pink Floyd’s Dave Gilmour. Lead guitarist Jamie MacColl said: “We’re really looking forward to hosting a day of brilliant music (and hopefully sunshine!) with our friend Ben Howard.”

You can register for a pre-sale ticket from the festival website now. General ticket sales start on Friday February 13.
