These are the top ten best-selling albums of 2018

The top slot will come as no surprise

The UK’s best-selling albums of 2018 have been revealed, with three film soundtracks and George Ezra topping the list.

Having shifted 1.6 million copies, the soundtrack to the Hugh Jackman-led The Greatest Showman tops the list of albums – as the Official Charts Company reports.

This result will not surprise many, the album has stayed in the top 5 of the Official Top 40 since its release in December 2017.  ‘The Greatest Showman’ soundtrack currently boasts 1.6 million combined sales, making it not only the highest-selling album in physical sales but the most streamed and most downloaded record of the year.

The cast recording has now racked up 24 non-consecutive weeks at the top spot – the most weeks at the number 1 spot for an album this century. It has now overtaken Adele’s previous record for ’21’, which spent 23 weeks in pole position between February 2011 – April 2012.

Meanwhile, George Ezra’s sophomore album ‘Staying At Tamara’s‘ scored the best-selling album released in 2018, with 691,000 combined sales.

Ed Sheeran‘s 2017 album ‘÷’ continues its run of chart success as  the third biggest artist album of 2018.

Two more film soundtracks fill out the top ten, with the cast recording of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again coming in at number 4, and A Star Is Born ending the year at number 7.

Drake, Post Malone, Michael Buble and Eminem round out the top 10, with Dua Lipa scoring most successful female artist of the year with her debut album.
