TART ME UP!

They've recently recorded 'Brown Sugar' together...

Rising alt-country star RYAN ADAMS and crossover folk starlet BETH ORTON have collaborated to record a cover of THE ROLLING STONES classic ‘BROWN SUGAR’.

Speaking from the stage during last night’s show at the London Shepherds Bush Empire, Adams said that the track was recorded in the last few days.

The track is set to feature on a free CD given away with the January issue of ‘Uncut’ magazine, which is out in UK newsagents in December.

A spokesperson for Adams could not be reached for comment this morning.

Joining Orton in the audience for the show, which marked the start of a series of UK dates in support of Adams’ second solo album ‘Gold’, were Coldplay‘s Chris Martin, television presenter Jamie Theakston and former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler.

Speaking to NME.COM after the show, an excited Adams said “Man, that was something else, incredible… a real party.”

It has also emerged that aside from a forthcoming album with side-project The Pink Hearts, Adams is also recording with Smashing Pumpkin James Iha plus one other, strongly rumoured to be ex-Hole bassist Melissa Auf Der Maur. They are working under the name The Fucking Virgins.
