Beyonce has debuted a new track, titled ‘Grown Woman’, in an advert for Pepsi – scroll down to the bottom of the page and click to watch.
The commercial for the fizzy drinks company sees the singer come face to face with various former incarnations of herself, including the iconic looks she sported for previous singles such as ‘Crazy In Love’ and ‘Single Ladies’. A representative for Beyonce has confirmed to Billboard that although ‘Grown Woman’ will not be released as her new single, it will feature on her forthcoming new album.
Although the singer’s new LP currently has no release date, she recently released another new track, ‘Bow Down/I Been On’, which is also expected to feature. The album will be the follow-up to her last studio effort, ‘4’, which was released in June 2011.
Earlier this week, Beyonce claimed that she is a “modern-day feminist” and addressed criticism about calling her forthcoming tour The Mrs Carter Show – appropriating her married name from Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter. “I feel like Mrs. Carter is who I am, but more bold and more fearless than I’ve ever been,” she said. “I do believe in equality… But I’m happily married. I love my husband.”
It was also recently announced, meanwhile, that Beyonce and OutKast rapper Andre 3000 have recorded a cover of the late Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back To Black’. The cover will feature on the soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann’s forthcoming film adaptaion of F Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel ‘The Great Gatsby’.
It has already been confirmed that Jay-Z will be executive producer for the soundtrack and is expected to contribute new material to the film. Other stars rumoured to feature on the soundtrack include Prince, Lady Gaga and Lana Del Rey. ‘The Great Gatsby’ is in cinemas from May 17 and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire.
