'I control my own brand' singer says of her $300 million empire
Beyonce has hit out at the lack of powerful women in the music industry.
img src=”http://static.nme.com/images/2013JustinBeyoncePA-6314456150213.jpg” align=”right” />Speaking in an interview with The Gentlewoman magazine (via The Evening Standard), the singer and pop superstar – who is reported to be worth $300 million and has sold over 75 million albums, says there are too few women following in her footsteps.
“I’m controlling my content, controlling my brand and archiving it for my daughter and making sure she has it and she respects it but there’s not enough of us that become moguls,” she said.
In 2011, Beyoncé became CEO of her own brand in place of her father. “I just have memories of when there was no air conditioning in the new building and we didn’t have an office. It was like camping,” she said.
This morning (February 15) it was rumoured that Beyoncé could be joining Justin Timberlake at an intimate London show at the end of March. Beyoncé has been working with Timberlake on her new album, the follow-up to 2011’s ‘4’ along with Pharrell Williams and Timbaland.
