“Beyonce coming to the Brits is a huge coup for organisers. She’s among the best live pop acts on the planet and will have brand new material to play for the audience,” an unnamed source told The Sun. “The last time she played the Brits, nine years ago, was at the start of her solo career, singing ‘Crazy In Love’. So it’s apt that she’s back this year.”

James Corden will again host the awards this year, with Robbie Williams also due to perform at the ceremony. The nominations for this year’s awards were announced earlier this month with Alt-J, Mumford And Sons and Muse and all picking up multiple nods.

Meanwhile, Beyonce will make her live return as she performs during the half-time show at this year’s Super Bowl, held this year at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. The singer posted a picture of her face with the Super Bowl date, February 3, stuck to her cheeks on black tape, in true American football style, alongside the words ‘Countdown to Touchdown’ on her official website to mark the announcement in late 2012.

The Brit Awards will take place on February 20 at London’s O2 Arena.
