Beyonce names new album ‘4’

Singer reveals her fans came up with title

Beyonce has named her new album ‘4’.

The former Destiny’s Child singer revealed that her fans inspired the title for the album – aptly her fourth as a solo artist.

“I had a whole other name and concept, but I keep seeing that the fans love the name ‘4’ and I think it would be a really nice thing to let them name the record,” she told

She added that the number four also holds a personal significance. “It’s the day I was born. My mother’s birthday, and a lot of my friends’ birthdays, are on the fourth; April 4 is my wedding date,” Beyonce commented.

No official release date has yet been confirmed for the album, but it is reportedly scheduled to be coming out in June. It will be her first since 2008’s ‘I Am…Sasha Fierce’.

Earlier this month, the singer released a new song, ‘God Bless The USA, to help aid victims of the 9/11 terror attacks.

Beyonce is also set to headline the Glastonbury festival next month.
