Beyoncé’s ‘Lemonade’ knocks PJ Harvey off album top spot

14 Prince albums have also entered the Top 100

Beyonce‘s surprise album ‘Lemonade’ has shot straight to number one on the official UK album chart. She takes the place of PJ Harvey‘s ‘The Hope Six Demolition Project.’

It’s Beyonce’s third UK number one album, after 2003’s ‘Dangerously in Love’ and 2011’s ‘4’. It’s also the second-fastest selling album of 2016 so far, tallying up 73,000 chart sales. David Bowie‘s ‘Blackstar’ currently holds the title for the fastest selling album of 2016.

Streaming for ‘Lemonade’ counted for 10,000 sales and marks it as the biggest streaming sales since streaming was introduced into the chart last year.

14 of Prince‘s albums have also entered the Top 100, with ‘The Very Best Of’ reaching the number two spot. ‘Ultimate’ is just behind at number three and the ‘Purple Rain OST’ from Prince & The Revolution has climbed 51 places to number four.

Drake holds onto his UK number one single for a third week with ‘One Dance,’ with 129,000 chart sales so far. It also marks a record-breaking 7.86 million streams – the highest streams of a track in a single week, ever.

Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’ was just shy of the top five, reaching number six. ‘When Doves Cry,’ ‘Raspberry Beret,’ ‘Little Red Corvette’ and ‘Kiss’ also charted.
