Beyoncé’s father suggests singer is older than she claims to be – watch

Matthew Knowles made confusing comments about the singer's age in a recent radio interview

Matthew Knowles, Beyonce‘s father and former manager, has made confusing and conflicting remarks about the singer’s age, leading to the suggestion that she may be older than she says she is.

The star’s age has been the subject of fan conspiracy theories in the past, although her official birth date is widely listed as September 4, 1981.

In a recent interview with The Breakfast Club on New York radio station Power 105.1, Knowles appeared to make contradicting statements about his daughter’s age, first stating that she is the “exact same age” as Pink and then saying she’s the same age as Usher.

Pink is two years older than Beyoncé, born in September 1979. Usher, meanwhile, was born in 1978.

Knowles said: “[Destiny’s Child] had a competitiveness, LA [Reid] had a girls group but I bet you don’t know who his lead singer was… Pink! She was the exact same age as Beyoncé and there used to be this battle about which group was better. We had Usher, he was the same age. They were all 14 or 15 years old.”

There has been no official statement from Beyoncé’s representatives on the claims.

Last night, Beyonce performed with both Jay Z and Nicki Minaj at Tidal’s New York charity concert. The gig, which was streamed live on Tidal, was in celebration of the music streaming service reaching one million subscribers.
