The 78-storey 'Premier Tower' apparently pays homage to the singer's 'Ghost' music video
A skyscraper inspired by one of Beyonce‘s music videos is to be built in Melbourne, Australia.
The so-called ‘Premier Tower’, a 78-storey building which will house apartments, hotel rooms and retail space, will be erected at 134 Spencer Street in the city’s central business district. Its “complex” design, said to be a product of “art and science”, apparently pays homage to Beyoncé’s 2013 video for ‘Ghost’.
A press release on the website of Elenberg Fraser, the Australian architecture and interior design firm which has designed the Premier Tower, explains: “This project is the culmination of our significant research into how to best work with individual site and climatic constraints, brought together using our new parametric modelling techniques.
“The complex form – a vertical cantilever – is actually the most effective way to redistribute the building’s mass, giving the best results in terms of structural dispersion, frequency oscillation and wind requirements. Art and science? You betcha. For those more on the art than science side, we will reveal that the form does pay homage to something more aesthetic – we’re going to trust you’ve seen the music video for Beyoncé’s ‘Ghost’.”
‘Ghost’ is one of 14 music videos the singer made for her self-titled 2013 album ‘Beyoncé’. Watch below.
Beyoncé has yet to comment on the ambitious building inspired by her music video. The singer recently made a cameo appearance in Madonna’s ‘Bitch I’m Madonna’ video and has been linked to a potential role as a superhero in Marvel’s next The Avengers movie.
