Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and 5 Seconds Of Summer top 2016 Tumblr charts

My Chemical Romance and the 1975 also make the cut

Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and 5 Seconds Of Summer have topped Tumblr’s 2016 end of year charts.

‘Lemonade’ topped the blogging platform’s best album list, while Beyoncé also just missed out on best solo artist to Swift. 5 Seconds Of Summer meanwhile topped Tumblr’s list of most popular bands.

The site collected figures on music that dominated posts, re-blogs, likes and searches across the blogging platform over the past 12 months.

My Chemical Romance also made it into the albums and most popular bands list despite splitting in 2013 as did the 1975, whose LP ‘I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It’ was also recently voted NME‘s Album Of The Year.

Speaking about the latter, Amanda Brennan, Tumblr’s content insights manager, told Billboard: ” The 1975 are also great at Tumblr. When they made their transition from black to pink, they deleted all their posts from Tumblr. Everyone was like, ‘Oh my god, what is happening?’

“And then they brought it back in the new aesthetic. I remember when it happened because the search results changed completely in colour.

“One day from the next, the vibe totally flipped. It was amazing to see the fans immediately picking up what the band put down.”
