Biffy Clyro on ‘The X Factor’: ‘Simon Cowell is not the devil’

Band spoke about music mogul before they got involved in show

Biffy Clyro have seen their song ‘Many Of Horror’ adopted by ‘The X Factor’ winner Matt Cardle – and it seems that they’ve always had a tolerant view of the reality music TV show.

The band spoke about the show and mogul Simon Cowell earlier this year, telling NME that they thought it wasn’t a threat to “real” music.

Frontman Simon Neil said: “It’s always just been Saturday night entertainment – The X Factor is for the kind of people who buy fucking Robbie Williams calendars.”

He added: “I don’t think it’s a threat to ‘real’ music at all. It’s just entertainment. It’s just what The A-Team was in 1986. And Simon Cowell isn’t the devil, he’s just someone who wants to make shitloads of money, and fair play to him.”

Cardle is the bookies favourite to bag the Christmas Number One single this year with his version of ‘Many Of Horror’, renamed ‘When We Collide’.
