Band are thought to be recording a new album
Biffy Clyro have announced their first live performances of 2016, confirming that they will play Germany’s Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park festivals next summer.
The trio previously stated that they have been in “musical hibernation” while working on the follow-up to to 2013’s double LP ‘Opposites’.
Now however the band have announced via Facebook that they will return for these two dates, with other shows expected to be confirmed shortly.
Rock Am Ring takes place in Mendig, while Rock Im Park is held in Nuremberg. Both will run next year from June 3-5, 2016.
At the start of the year, frontman Simon Neil revealed the band have 20 songs – all “80% written” – for their next album.
“It’s sounding really rocking at the moment,” he said. “I think it’s important to put some more rules and limitations on what we do because on the last few records we ran with whatever ideas we had. So on this one, when I say stripped back it’s not going to sound skeletal or anything but perhaps a bit more aggressive. Coming off the back of a double album, it’s important to be really concise so we might only have ten songs.”
At the end of last year the band’s drummer Ben Johnston told [em]NME[/em] that the band would be recording the new album in summer 2015.
“It’s coming along; we’re not in any massive rush at all – we don’t want to anything that’s not perfect. We’re working hard – we’ve got too many songs, which is great! A great place to be at.”
