Billie Joe Armstrong unveils Green Day ‘Dookie’ themed guitar pedal

'Dookie' will turn 25 next month

Green Day’s Bille Joe Armstrong has unveiled a new ‘Dookie’ themed guitar pedal on Instagram, ahead of the album’s twenty-fifth anniversary next month.

Sharing a picture of the new pedal, Armstrong teased the pedal with the caption “Anyone going to NAMM?” which fans believe is a reference to the music trade show in Anaheim, California where they think the pedal might become available.

‘Dookie’ was Green Day’s third studio album and their debut on a major label following its release in 1994 on February 1. It featured hits such as ‘Basket Case’, ‘Longview’ and ‘When I Come Around.’

Last month, Armstrong confirmed that he was working on new Green Day material after responding directly to a fan on Instagram who asked when new music can be expected from the punk icons. “I’m writing new songs for gd now,” Armstrong wrote.

Although Armstrong failed to provide any more details, it seemingly acts as confirmation that work has begun on the follow-up to 2016’s ‘Revolution Radio’ – which was described as NME as their strongest work since ‘American Idiot.’

The news came after Armstrong also teased a performance with Foxboro Hot Tubs last month. The Green Day side project, featuring all three members, released an album called ‘Stop Drop And Roll!!!’ a decade ago. They made their live debut in Arkansas in 2008; the following year, the band rocked up in London for a tiny impromptu gig at Islington’s Garage venue.

Last year, the band also revealed that they had been rehearsing ‘Dookie’ in full, suggesting that an anniversary tour might be on the horizon. They previously performed the album in its entirety at Reading & Leeds Festival in 2013.
