Billy Bragg to launch new ‘radio show’ on Spotify

The singer will host a monthly series on the music streaming service

Billy Bragg will host a monthly “radio show” on Spotify, it has been announced.

The singer and activist’s first show will launch tomorrow (February 11). In the series, he will talk listeners through playlists featuring some of his favourite tracks and artists.

In tomorrow’s episode, Bragg will discuss 14 tracks, which includes Stevie Wonder’s ‘Heaven Help Us All’, The Everly Brothers’ ‘Down in the Willow Garden’, and ‘I’m In Love With The Girl On The Manchester Virgin Megastore Checkout Desk’ by The Freshies.

“I’m looking forward to using my ‘talking playlist’ to introduce listeners to some of the amazing material in Spotify’s back pages,” Bragg said in a statement “One of my favourite artists from the ’50s is a guy named Louis Prima. Spotify have over 100 albums of his on their system and he’s just one among thousands of obscure artists who have languished in the racks in second-hand record stores for the past half century. I’m hoping to bring some of those names to light as well as playing some of my favourite tracks from the 21st century.”

Also announced today is the release of a new Billy Bragg live album titled ‘Live At The Union Chapel’. The LP was recorded at Bragg’s June 5, 2013 gig at London’s Union Chapel.

The ‘Live At The Union Chapel’ tracklisting is as follows:

‘Ideology’
‘Way Over Yonder In The Minor Key’
‘Do Unto Others’
‘All You Fascists Bound To Lose’
‘I Ain’t Got No Home’
‘You Woke Up My Neighbourhood’
‘Never Buy The Sun’
‘Between The Wars’
‘There Is Power In A Union’
‘Goodbye Goodbye’
‘My Flying Saucer’
‘Swallow My Pride’
‘Over You’
‘Valentine’s Day Is Over’
‘There Will Be A Reckoning’
‘Sexuality’
