Ahead of Smashing Pumpkins reunion tour
Billy Corgan stopped by The Late Late Show for an intimate performance of solo track ‘Archer’.
Taken from his 2017 EP ‘Ogilala’, Corgan performed the track with the accompaniment of two acoustic guitars.
The EP saw Corgan perform alone, playing either piano or guitar. You can see the performance of ‘Archer’ below.
The performance comes ahead of Smashing Pumpkins‘ reunion tour later this year.
Guitarist James Iha and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin have rejoined Corgan to also work on new music.
Ex-bandmate D’Arcy Wretzky is not involved with the reunion. Corgan has made headlines following his alleged interactions with Wretzky, after the former bassist shared screengrabs of their conversation surrounding the tour.
Despite saying that he feels “attacked by the mob”, Corgan has said that it is “the happiest time” that the Smashing Pumpkins have ever experienced as a band. He later admitted that bridges with Wretzky have been burned “forever” following their public feud.
“Being in a band is like being in a family,” Corgan told Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich on Radio 1. He added that he and his Pumpkins bandmates have “had such intense experiences together”.
Corgan claimed that he has “spent two years repairing my relationship” with Wretzky but added that he hasn’t “been in a room with her for 19 years”.
Describing their phone calls as “very pleasant”, Corgan said that “only when it became obvious that it wasn’t the way she wanted it to be, it turned into this thing that turned very reminiscent of the past”.
