Billy Corgan has reacted to a fan asking Smashing Pumpkins to perform ‘Daydream’ on the band’s Shiny and Oh So Bright tour.
Former bassist, D’arcy Wretzky, sings lead vocals on the song from the band’s debut record, ‘Gish’.
As reported by Alternative Nation, a fan asked Corgan on Instagram, “I was waiting for you to play Daydream in Phoenix… ?Can you play it at your next show?”
Corgan responded with, “Statues can’t sing.”
Wretzky was expected to return to the band for their full reunion, which includes a worldwide tour.
Alternative Nation also reports that Wretzky and fellow former Smashing Pumpkins bassist Melissa auf der Maur were removed from the band’s music video history in clips played during the tour’s kickoff show in Glendale, Arizona on Thursday (12 July).
Highlights of the band’s videography were played during a performance of ‘Rhinocerous’ but images of Wretzky were erased.
Auf der Maur was also not seen in any shots from the music videos for ‘The Everlasting Gaze’ and ‘Stand Inside Your Love’.
Wretzky and auf der Maur are the only members from the original Smashing Pumpkins run that are not involved in the reunion tour.
