Björk plays Death Grips and Kate Bush in surprise New York DJ set – listen

Icelandic artist shares mix from the electronic label’s fifth anniversary party

Bjork has shared an hour-long mix recorded at Tri Angle Records’ Anniversary Party in New York last Friday (May 15).

The Icelandic singer, who guested on a Rinse mix by Tri Angle label head Robin Carolan this February, arrived in a sequinned mask to the Manhattan event, which was part of Red Bull Music Academy’s month-long NYC festival. She DJed a mix featuring Kate Bush, Death Grips, Brandy, Jeremih and her sometime Tri Angle collaborators Lotic and The Haxan Cloak. Listen below.

Describing the mix on Soundcloud, Björk wrote: “i would like to wish tri angle label an incredibly sublime birthday and thank for having been invited to dj at their party . couldnt possibly been more honoured than to play in that company !!! the mix i played was my present to them : merging together some of my fav beats last year with some of my fav vocalists doing some of their best songs : !!! this is my tune-tinder !!!”

Meanwhile, audio of Björk and Arca’s recent gig at the New York City Center Theatre recently became available online for free download.

The gig took place on March 25 and saw Björk alongside producer Arca joined on stage by the fifteen-piece orchestra Alarm Will Sound. The full download can be found here.

The musician’s latest album ‘Vulnicura’ was rush-released earlier this year.
