New Bjork single and app ‘Moon’ released today

The 'Biophilia' album opener is out now (September 7)

‘Moon’, the new single and app from Bjork, has been released today (September 7).

The app is a song and music sequencer inspired “by similarities between cycles in music and cycles of the moon and tides”. It also contains an animation, as well as scrolling music notation and an essay which looks into Bjork’s own ideas on cycles both in music and in nature.

According to promotional material about the app, you can play the song in ‘song mode’ during which an animated moon changes with the song structure. In ‘instrument mode’ you can drag pearls across the screen to change the pitch of the song.

The app, for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch, is available from the Apple App Store.

Bjork will release the album ‘Biophilia’ on October 10 through One Little Indian.

The Icelandic singer headlines the Sunday night at this year’s Bestival. She will play the Isle Of Wight event on September 11.

Bjork recently revealed the tracklisting to ‘Biophilia’, which is as follows:

‘Dark Matter’
‘Mutual Core’
‘Hollow’ (Original 7 Minute Version)*
‘Dark Matter’ (With Choir & Organ)*

* These songs will only appear on the Digipak version of ‘Biophilia’.
