It's all in the name of a new movie
Clips have emerged of Val Kilmer going wild on stage with The Black Lips on Friday (November 2).
The actor – known for playing Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone’s The Doors and Batman in 1995’s Batman Forever – joined the Atlanta band onstage at Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, Texas, where he cut clumps of his own hair with a bowie knife, kissed members of the band, destroyed a guitar and took a chainsaw to an amp – click the clip above to watch.
But this was no (very) public breakdown. Kilmer was filming scenes for an untitled movie by director Terrence Malick, in which he plays the part of an washed-up rocker named Dwayne, reports Rolling Stone. The film also stars Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, Michael Fassbender, Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchet and Rooney Mara. Kilmer asked the crowd: “Did they tell you we’re making a movie? We’re not. We’re practicing making a movie.”
The actor also referenced his role as Jim Morrison, asking the crowd, “Do you wanna hear some Doors songs? Well, you’re 20 years too late. No Doors here. We have some windows . . . got some garage. But we’ve got no Doors.”
